Scary: USDA to Put a Rush on Approval for Monsanto “Franken Foods”

If you thought Monsanto’s lack of testing on their current GMO crops was bad before, prepare to now be blown away by the latest statement by the USDA. Despite links to organ damage and mutated insects, the USDA says that it is changing the rules so that genetically modified seed companies like Monsanto will get ‘speedier regulatory reviews’. With the faster reviews, there will be even less time spent on evaluating the potential dangers. Why? Because Monsanto is losing sales with longer approval terms.

The changes are expected to take full effect in March when they’re published in the Federal Register. The USDA’s goal is to cut the approval time for GMO crops in half in order to speedily implement them into the global food supply. The current USDA process takes longer than they would like due to ‘public interest, legal challenges, and the challenges associated with the advent of national organic food standards‘ says USDA deputy administrator Michael Gregoire. Solidarity: Virginia safety Joseph Williams is On a Hunger Strike for University Workers

UVA Safety, Joseph WilliamsRarely do we see student-athletes, football players, get involved in political matters that affect the universities where they play. We’re not talking about student government, but the politics that happen within the university, disputes between workers or teachers and administration Virginia safety Joseph Williams is changing that.

For the past eight days, Williams, a junior walk-on who has played in two games during his career, has been on a hunger strike “to protest the economic and social injustices perpetrated by the UVA administration against the vast majority of the University’s service-sector employees.” Williams, a political and social thought major, wrote an eloquent and poignant essay about why he was participating in the hunger strike with the Living Wage Campaign. Why black people should stay away from the EEOC

MR. RICARDO JONES, SR. is a veteran and the former Senior Federal Investigator for the new York District of the EEOC from 2001 to 2010. He describes how the EEOC is a cesspool of corruption and racism. Blacks working in the United States have any protection from racial discrimination, because the EEOC unfairly rejects almost 97% of all cases filed by Blacks. Sellout Blacks in the EEOC and racist white workers in the government agency accept bribes and do their jobs in a sexually charged environment where sexual availability and tolerance of racial injustice places folks on the fast track. Jones was fired for refusing to play ball and accept bribes. If you want to file an EEOC complaint please watch this film

Yummy – Not!: Say HELL NO to Agent Orange Corn

Some of the effects of Agent Orange. ....And now they want to spray this on your food.

Is your food going to be sprayed with Agent Orange?

It sounds like a supervillain’s plot, but sadly, it’s not. A new genetically engineered variety of corn from Dow is designed to be resistant to a component of Agent Orange. Tell the USDA not to approve this crop! Right now, Dow’s Agent Orange corn is being rubberstamped through the approval process at USDA. It has not been adequately tested for our health or safety, and it should not be approved. We have until February 27 to tell the USDA to reject Agent Orange corn. (more…)

Unconstitutional: Michigan Could Be Turned Over to Unelected Emergency Managers

On January 20 the progressive think tank Michigan Forward and the Detroit branch of the NAACP sent a joint letter to Michigan Governor Rick Snyder expressing concern over Public Act 4, the Local Government and School District Fiscal Accountability Act. Signed into law in March 2011, it granted unprecedented new powers to the state’s emergency managers (EMs), including breaking union contracts, taking over pension systems, setting school curriculum and even dissolving or disincorporating municipalities. Under PA 4, EMs, who are appointed by the governor, can “exercise any power or authority of any officer, employee, department, board, commission or other similar entity of the local government whether elected or appointed.”

What are the qualifications for such a powerful office and the six-figure salary that accompanies it? Not much: PA 4 requires “a minimum of 5 years’ experience and demonstrable expertise in business, financial, or local or state budgetary matters.” Last year the state held a pair of two-day training sessions for EMs, both run primarily by companies that provide outsourcing services to municipalities and school districts. Yet PA 4 made the emergency manager the single most powerful person in the city. (more…)

Something Fishy: FDA On Verge of Approving GM Salmon

The FDA is on the brink of approving genetically engineered salmon for human consumption. This would be the first genetically engineered animal on supermarket shelves in the United States. The salmon is engineered to produce growth hormones year-round that cause the fish to grow at twice the normal rate. The government already requires labels to tell us if fish is wild-caught or farm-raised—don’t we also have a right to know if our salmon is genetically engineered? Without labels, we’ll never know. More than forty countries, including Russia and China, already require labels on genetically engineered foods. As Americans, we firmly believe that we deserve the same right to know what we are eating.

That’s why I created a petition to U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on SignOn.org, which says: (more…)

We Got Company: Former Legislator Indicates President Eisenhower Met With Aliens

It’s a story that has circulated in and out of the UFO community for years: Did former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower have three meetings with extraterrestrials? An ex-government consultant says the story is true that the 34th commander in chief chatted, if you will, with aliens at a New Mexico air base, according to reports.

No definitive proof has ever surfaced to confirm this president-meets-aliens tale. However, according to Timothy Good, Eisenhower and FBI officials arranged for the out-of-this-world summit at Holloman Air Force Base.

“Aliens have made both formal and informal contact with thousands of people throughout the world from all walks of life,” Good, an author, lecturer and former consultant to Congress and the Pentagon, said on Frank Skinner’s BBC2 program, “Opinionated.”

Good claims that governments of the world have had ongoing contacts with ETs over many years. (more…)

Beyond Selling Out: Too Short Advises Boys to “Turn Out”, Sexually Assault Girls; XXL Publishes

Rapper Too Short

XXL magazine teamed up with rapper Too Short recently to give “fatherly advice” that involved teaching middle-school-aged boys how to “turn girls out.” Calling it a process of “mind manipulation,” the aging rapper advised boys to digitally stimulate girls to get “whatever [they] want.” While the video has been removed from the XXL site, the fact that it was published at all is still drawing outrage.

“When you get to late middle school, early high school and you start feeling a certain way about the girls… I’m gonna tell you a couple tricks,” Too Short said in the video. “A lot of the boys are going to be running around trying to get kisses from the girls… We’re going way past that. I’m taking you to the hole.”

Then, the 45-year-old rapper, whose real name is Todd Anthony Shaw, asks women off camera to “cover their ears” to avoid being offended. Short then describes a scenario in graphic detail. “You push her up against the wall,” he continued. “You take your finger and put a little spit on it and you stick your finger in her underwear and you rub it on there and watch what happens.” (more…)

Loyal To A Fault: Ex-Star B-Baller, Allen Iverson, Reportedly “Broke”

Former NBA star, Allen IversonAllen Iverson has reportedly gone from 11-time NBA all-star to financial deadbeat. The Philadelphia 76ers icon was recently ordered to pay over $860,000 to a jeweler, and he couldn’t cut a check. A Georgia judge has ordered the seizing of Iverson’s bank account, so the relatively little money he has left will be garnished, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. This isn’t just another formerly famous athlete blowing a ton of cash. Iverson was among the biggest superstars in the NBA, earning more than $154 million during a professional career that began back in 1996. (This doesn’t include endorsement money and other business deals.)

How did Iverson lose so much? (more…)

Fight Back: How One Foreclosed Man is Striking Back Against Banks

In 2008, Arturo de los Santos, a former Marine who lives with his wife and four children in Riverside, CA, fell victim to the economic crash caused by the greed of those on Wall Street. Like millions of Americans, he faced the prospect of mortgage default. Arturo was then encouraged by JPMorgan Chase & Co. to deliberately fall behind on his payments in order to modify his loan. A loan owned by Freddie Mac. Thinking the bank had his best intentions in mind, Arturo followed their instructions. Instead, JPMorgan greedily foreclosed on him, evicting Arturo and his family. Since then, Arturo has decided to fight back and re-occupy his home, even as he faces the possibility of arrest! (more…)

Arturo could be forcefully removed from his house at any time. Cuéntame and the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE) are working together to spread Arturo’s story as wide as possible and tell JP Morgan and Freddie Mac that the abuse must end today! We need your help.

How Do You Like Those Apples: Protesters Deliver Petitions Over Iproducts

Protesters visited a half-dozen Apple stores around the world to deliver petitions calling for reforms in the working conditions at factories run by Apple’s suppliers in China. The protests come on the heels of recent revelations of harsh conditions and onerous work environments at Apple’s controversial Chinese supplier Foxconn, where more than a dozen employees have committed suicide. We’re joined by New York Times reporter Charles Duhigg, who helped break the story about the human costs of Apple products for workers in China. We’re also joined by Mike Daisey, whose acclaimed one-man show, “The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs,” is based partly on his visits to Apple’s Chinese factories and his interviews with the workers there. “I want Apple to take real responsibility,” Daisey says. “They have the resources to change this overnight.”

Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference, the group ProEnglish organized the panel, “The Failure of Multiculturalism: How the pursuit of diversity is weakening the American identity,” and host Robert Vandervoort thanked CPAC for hosting the panel despite the work of “leftist thugs” who are trying to “shut down freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.” Vandervoort is a former leader of the White Nationalist group Chicagoland Friends of the American Renaissance, a racist magazine published by fellow White Nationalist Jared Taylor.
