TGIF Newletter: ACORN Wins, How to Beat Autism, Lil Wayne Leaked

Before you read any of the fluff in here make sure you watch this link, if you somehow missed it on the site. We DEMAND Real Health Care Reform!! http://www.playahata.com/?p=7849 NOT Wealthcare for insurance corporations.

Acorn WINS, but No News on It: On December 11, 2009, a federal judge ruled that Congress had unconstitutionally cut off all federal funds to ACORN. The judge issued an injunction stopping federal authorities from continuing to cut off past, present and future federal funds to the community organization. ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) and its allies in 75 cities will again have access to millions of federal dollars to counsel people facing foreclosure, seeking IRS tax refunds, and looking for affordable low cost housing. ACORN, which has received about $54 million in government grants since 1994, will be able to apply for new federal programs just like any other organization. Don’t Leak It To Me: We’ve heard of industry heads and online fans being accused of leaking albums prior to its official release date but never before has a major retail been at the forefront of these accusations. Last week Cash Money announced Lil Wayne’s “Rebirth” album would see the light of day in February 2010. However, it’s since been revealed that amazon.com mistakenly sent out 500 pre-order copies of the record when the album was originally slated to drop December 21st.

Holler At Me: NBA great Charles Barkley is one of the latest celebs to come out in defense of golfer Tiger Woods. In a new interview set to air this weekend Barkley says that Woods has changed his number and is avoiding his celebrity friends “I think when you have these fires in your life, as I call them, you need to talk to somebody else who is famous who [has] been through things in their life. I don’t think you can talk about it to your family and friends, because your family and friends, they’re not famous.”

Surprise, Surprise: A New York Republican took to Congress yesterday on behalf of dozens of minority backed radio stations who said they’re being frozen out under the new Portable People Meter rating system. Rep. Edolphus Towns is pointing the finger at radio company Arbitron to fix the system which he says is overlooking the urban community forcing a decline in revenue at many local radio stations. Arbitron, in return says its company is working with urban stations and that the recession and not the company is to blame.
