Love and Hip Hop – The “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” Reunion Show last night might just represent the lowest, ugliest, most sickening moment in black television history.
In belittling another cast member that she said looked old, singer K. Michelle invoked the name of one of the proudest, most heroic figures in African-American history.
“I’m tired of these old ass, Harriet Tubman bitches,” Michelle announced to the audience.
The line was shocking in its ignorance—first, believing that she would be insulting another black woman by calling her Harriet Tubman; second, by using Harriet Tubman’s name in describing a woman that she is trying to call old and ugly, Michelle has reduced a woman who is legendary for her courage and perseverance to a superficial representation of female unattractiveness. It’s the kind of line that should reduce a parent to tears were you ever to hear it coming from your child’s lips, because it would show you that you have failed your child in so many ways. read more
Fayette County deputies arrested megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar Jr. early Friday morning for allegedly assaulting his 15-year-old daughter. According to the police incident report, the preacher’s 19-year-old daughter, Alexandria, said Dollar “put both hands around her sister’s neck and choked her for about five seconds.” Alexandria Dollar told deputies she then saw her father grab her little sister by the shoulders and slap her in the face. She says the sister tried to break free but was thrown to the ground, at which point Alexandria ran to get her mother, Taffi, whose arrival in the kitchen ended the fight, the incident report states.
The 15-year-old, who also alleges her father beat her with his shoe while pinning her to the floor, sustained “superficial injuries” to her neck, said sheriff’s office spokesman Brent Rowan. The 50-year-old minister was charged with simple battery, family violence and cruelty to children. Deputies were summoned to Dollar’s Sandy Creek Road home around 1 a.m. after receiving a 911 call. They discovered “enough probable cause to make an arrest,” Rowan said.
According to the incident report, the 15-year-old was upset because her father wouldn’t let her attend a party on Saturday. Dollar, longtime pastor of World Changers Church International in College Park, said he was merely trying to restrain his daughter, who he claims was acting disrespectful. While holding her, she began to hit back so he wrestled her to the floor, the report states. Dollar told deputies he then spanked his daughter’s rear and sent her to her room. (more…)
Poster’s Note: I almost tend to think this was staged but it’s hard to believe Puff would stage something that made him look like such a douche. Everybody is tough when they have a security detail.

(CBS/AP) – The Georgia Supreme Court announced Monday that it has upheld the murder convictions and life prison sentences given to an Atlanta vegan couple who were charged with allowing their baby to starve to death. In 2007, a Fulton County jury convicted Jade Sanders and Lamont Thomas of malice murder, felony murder, and involuntary manslaughter in the 2004 death of their six-week-old son, Crown Shakur, who wasted away on a diet consisting of only soy milk and apple juice, police say.
Police searching the couple’s apartment found a soy milk bottle, an apple juice bottle and a rancid-smelling baby bottle caked with debris. At the 2007 trial, prosecutors said the soy milk cartons in their apartment stated that the product wasn’t to be used as a substitute for baby formula. (more…)
