I am writing this response to a YouTube video circulating widely on the internet in in which Eddie Long, the troubled pastor of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta GA is apparently crowned king with the ritual use of a Jewish Torah scroll. (The reader may know him for the recent scandal in which he was accused by five young men of sexual misconduct. After initially denying the allegations, he went into settlement talks with them.) Mega Church leader, Bishop Eddie Long canceled his “Tom Joyner Morning Show” interview this morning after a third young man came forward on Wednesday night with more allegations of sexual abuse. Attorney for the three plaintiffs, B.J. Bernstein, says her office has received several calls and she believes other victims will soon emerge. B.J. Bernstein also released cell phone pictures that the young men say were sent to them by pastor Eddie Long.
They allege that he abused his spiritual authority to seduce them with cars, money, clothes, jewelry, international trips and access to celebrities. Lawyers for the men, now 20 and 21-years-old, filed the lawsuit in the DeKalb County Court. When the two men attended Long’s church when they were 17 and 18-years old. “When the relationships started, the plaintiffs were past the legal age of consent in Georgia, which is 16, stated B.J.
