“Yeezy Taught Me”: Paltrow Use of N-Word Draws Ire

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has come under attack for using the N-word when referring to a photo of two of her African American friends Jay-Z and Beyonce. When partying on stage with the couple during a Jay-Z and Kanye Watch The Throne stop in Paris Friday, Paltrow tweeted a photo with the message, “Ni**as in paris for real @mrteiusnash (the dream) tyty, beehigh.”

Many who took offense to Paltrow using the derogatory term slammed her online. Amanda Seales called Paltrow’s comment “wreckless.” A post on popular African American blog site, Bossip.com, said “Gwyneth might be getting a little too comfortable around her black friends …”

On Sunday, Paltrow defended using the word. “Hold up. It’s the title of the song!” she said in response to a post from blogger B. Scott. (more…)

Australian Magistrate Rules that the ‘N-word’ is Not Offensive

Poster’s Note: So if this isn’t offensive then what would a reasonable person find offensive?

Australian magistrate rules that the ‘N-word’ is not offensive
By Mail Foreign Service

I guess in Australia this is considered reasonable languageA magistrate in Australia has sparked a furious row after he ruled that the terms ‘n****r’ and ‘sandn****r’ - a reference to Arabs – are not offensive. Michael O’Driscol came to the decision before finding that a 62-year-old man who used the words in a fax to a woman politician was not guilty of offensive behavior. ‘The words used were crude, unattractive and direct but were not offensive to a reasonable person,’ said Mr O’Driscoll when Denis Mulheron stood before him to face the charge.

Mulheron told the court in Southport, 50 miles south of Brisbane, that he believed he was using ‘everyday English’ in the fax he sent to Labour MP Miss Peta-Kaye Croft.
But Miss Christie Turner, a 28-year-old member of Miss Croft’s staff who read the one-page fax, said she was deeply offended by the terms in it. Mr Mulheron was calling on the Labour Party to tighten immigration laws against ‘n****rs’ and sandn****r terrorists’, as well as Muslim women with circumcised genitals. What shocked Miss Turner further was his reference to indigenous Australian Aborigines as ‘Abos’ – a term that Aboriginal people regard as highly offensive. (more …)

Mr Mulheron continued speaking in this fashion style when he addressed the court.

Eyecalone says ….

I went back around my old hood the other day. I didn’t see a lot of the brothers I used to hang with, and as much as has gone on in our respective lives, that should have come as no surprise. I still have love for them, but even if I did see many of them there wouldn’t have been much more than a little small talk before I eventually “kept it moving”. Why am I telling you this you ask? What does this have to with Nas’s new LP, formerly titled “Nigger”? (more…)
