Jupiter Hammon Speaks: This is probably the longest profile out of all the Playahatas. But, I feel you shouldn’t be all about anonymity. You should feel where the writer’s coming from. This is so I don’t have to pull a Stanley Crouch on ya and pimp slap you or pistol whip you for not understanding where I ’m coming from. With that said …What up!! I’m Jupiter “Gadfly ”Hammon aka the Digital Griot. I ’m currently working on a not so Top Secret project at the Sankofa Research Institute located in Research Triangle Park, NC trying to prove Dr. France Cress Welsing ’s Albino-Mutant Theory on the Origins of Caucasians.;-)
I ’m also in the process of starting a new religion based on Earthseed: The Book of the Living from Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents sci-fi novels. Hey don’t hate. If KRS-ONE can establish the Temple of Hip Hop and get people to sign up and pay then it shouldn’t be a problem or any other person with a - as they say in the South - “callin, to do the same". So, look for the Temple of Earthseed at a storefront near you.:-) But, don’t worry. I ’m not trying to get rich off the tithe money like T.D. Jakes or any other Rev.Ike in the pulpit or with a show on BET, the Black Family Channel, cable public access television or AM radio. I ’ll bring the Buddha back to religion. And I ain ’ t talking ‘bout the weed either.
I consider myself a North/South hybrid having spent an equal amount of my life in both the Northeast and Southeast along the Atlantic Seaboard. What up to all my Beantown and DC peoples. I live in North Cackalacki right now. I choose not to live in Boston or Washington because I really can't afford to and still maintain my current standard of living which ain't much already. The cost of living is ridiculous for anyone but particularly or a person raising a family. You get twice the house and yard for half the price in the Dirty South not to mention half the rates on auto insurance. And, I got points due to a lead foot yo!
I ’m vegetarian but I don ’t promote it. I’m no fanatic. Been there done that. But,when meat eaters question me on it like I ’m some anomaly, a brotha' from another planet, or just straight up don’t believe me, I usually tell them they are correct. They usually laugh, but it always shuts them up, nawmean.
My old lady tells me that I’m a “know it all ”. Well, I ’m not a know it all, but I “sees ” in the dark baby! I speaks my mind yo!
I ain ’t bringin’ shit to the table that ain’t already been brought before. And word to the wise, a brother can be long-winded as you can see from this profile. So, if ya ADD or ADHD you might just all asleep reading my ish' or get frustrated and go postal. I used to let the B.S. of the world get to me until I finally concluded that we are ALL HYPOCRITES in some way or another. Do what you gotta do to survive and keep your sanity! JUST LIVE! And I ’m not talking about material things or sex, drugs, and hip hop. Life is about more than that B.
