In the aftermath of the destruction of the World Trade Center's twin towers and damage to the Pentagon many folks asked out loud with a straight face even, what would make someone do something like this, why are we hated so? And with an equally straight face the media response was, "they hate us because of our liberties, they hate us because of our lifestyle and prosperity and they hate us because we are good". If these same folks had gone, say to a concentration camp which they euphemistically call an Indian reservation and asked those confined there by US government fiat and policy, why AmeriKKKan are hated? Or they ventured into one of the barrios or ravaged inner cities and asked the same question, they would first have been shocked that the residents there know quite well why AmeriKKKa is hated all around the globe. Plus they would have gotten a rude awakening as to the evil this government does here at home.

It is mind boggling in the year 2001 in the so called information age, people in this country are shocked that something like what happened on September 11th actually happened whether it was done by so called religious fanatics or not. Their ignorance is a testament to the effectiveness of the brainwashing and disinformation that is being done by the government in partnership with the corporate owned mass media. All this is made possible because many AmeriKKKan citizens who work harder at knowing more about the batting averages, yards per carry, field goal percentage, PGA earnings and gossip on the celebrity of the week than what is going on in their own community, nation and world.

For those out there who are genuinely ignorant of this nation's history as an imperialist racist power let me share with you some reasons why AmeriKKKa is hated all over the globe. The CIA alone has been involved in the internal affairs of over fifty countries on six continents. The collateral damage of that broad an imperialist program is bound to make enemies. An assassination here, torture there, massacre here, human rights abuses there do tend to tick folks off. Lest you think I'm making this up, the information I'm sharing with you comes from a report by the Church Senatorial committee on CIA misdeeds and information from the US Army's Western Hemisphere Institute For Security formally known as the US Army School of the Americas also known as the US School For Assassins. The monumental task is, where to begin? There are so many examples and limited space. Let's just go back as far as post WWII covert and clandestine paramilitary operations ( the US government also engages in covert economic activities). I can say this, the US government is an equal opportunity mischief maker.

Beginning in 1946 the US was involved in the overthrowing of the Metaxas government and restoring the monarch in Greece. 1946-55 in West Germany an average of $6 million dollars a year was spent to support former Nazi intelligence network of Nazi General Reinhard Gehlen, 1948-68 $30 million dollars a year spent to aid anti-communist candidates in Italian elections, 1953 overthrew the Mossadegh government in Iran and installed the Shah Zahedi at a cost of $10 million, 1954 installed the government of Ngo Dinh Diem in Viet Nam, 1954 orchestrated the abduction and discreditation of West German intelligence chief Otto John and replaced him with former Nazi Reinhard Gehlen 1955 unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Chinese leader Zhou Enlai. The CIA attempted on three occasions from 1961-63 to assassinate Fidel Castro and spent $63 million on the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, 1961 CIA precipitated conditions leading to the assassination of Patrice Lumumba, 1963 precipitated conditions leading to the assassination of Ngo Dinh Diem, 1963 overthrow government of Juan Bosh in Dominican Republic, 1967 provided training in assassination and interrogation techniques for police and intelligence personal in Brazil, Guatemala, Uruguay and Dominican Republic,1967 overthrew government of George Papandreou and installed a military government in Greece, 1979 installed military government to replace the Shah of Iran, 1979-80 financial pressure to destabilize government of Michael Manley, 1980 assassination of Walter Rodney in Guyana to prop up government of Forbes Burnham, 1982 military assistance to overthrow government of Goukouni Ouddei and 1982-83 overthrow government of Bolivia in a military coup. For over twenty years Jordan's King Hussein was on the CIA payroll to a tune of $750,000 a year. We need to be aware that a CIA project code named NKNAOMI to develop chemical and biological warfare capabilities was begun within the first few years of the establishment of the CIA. This program supposedly was discontinued in 1970.

As damaging as these facts are, there is even more shame and cause for alarm. Since 1946 the US Army has operated a school first opened in Panama but subsequently relocated to Fort Benning Georgia in 1984 called the US Army School of the Americas which to its discredit has trained some of the most ruthless and brutal dictators in Central and South America. The School of Assassins as it became known as trained Omar Torrijos of Panama, Guillermo Rodriguez of Ecuador, Juan Velasco Alvarado of Peru each of whom overthrew constitutionally elected civilian governments. Other star pupils include Manuel Antonia Noriega, Manuel Antonio Callejas y Callejas noted Guatemalan intelligence chief who murdered thousands of his own people. Training manuals from the school indicate courses such as military police and infantry training, psychological warfare, counterinsurgency, military intelligence (which included interrogation techniques, torture etc) are routinely taught.

This training has led to human rights violations, blatant abuses. The establishment of massive civilian death squads, political assassinations and military coups all over Central and South America. Space does not permit documentation of the atrocities committed by graduates of the SOA to the tune of over $40 million dollars annually paid for by the same US citizens who incredulously ask, "why are we hated"?

This is just a smidgen of the activity, misconduct and immoral behavior sanctioned by various presidents. Need I mention domestic terrorism, counter insurgency programs such as COINTELPRO, the CIA's MK-ULTRA mind control program that was tested on many unsuspecting US citizens as well a biological and chemical warfare? I find it hard to believe that little Georgie Bush never overheard his father talk about the real deal around the dinner table during his father's tenure as CIA Director, Vice President and President. What's most disconcerting about all of the current events is, the same people who were part and parcel to these activities and atrocities are at the nation's helm now!
